Imagine that you are not only watching your favourite Marvel heroes but can directly communicate with them in real-time. That very crazy idea ignited a spark and made me explore and dig deep into the field of the metaverse. Just like how the MCU interconnects the characters across different dimensions and multiverses, this world under the construction of the metaverse is becoming more and more accurate as it is trying to merge the digital and physical realities. Trust me, this is not a mere section anymore that is used to make sci-fi movies and novels fascinating, it is real and is happening now.
I was thrilled to see the future of the realistic environment that Artur Sychov showed in his TED Talk. We have advanced a lot since some of the first virtual communication platforms such as Ultima Online or Second Life, which provided users with the opportunity to constantly communicate in virtual communication environments. These days with the Virtual Reality headsets on we can convince our head from top to toe that we are actually in the worlds which we are dealing with. Imagine this, instead of just watching your favourite Marvel characters on screen, you are actually there shooting them on your camera, being the part of the action and ride.
But that's just the beginning. The metaverse includes not only VR. It's changing with the help of blockchain technology. With decentralization, we can now possess properties in the META that include avatars and virtual plots of land. Arthur also reveals that you could actually own, trade, or profit from these places without the need for any proprietorial control. Imagine; what if your Marvel collectibles weren't just stored on a shelf but could be traded or used across the digital universe?
The metaverse is also changing the way individuals gain access to worldwide financial systems. In Artur's words, blockchain successfully opens up virtual economies for people who have no access to a banking system. Suddenly, creativity and innovation aren't just tied to where you are from or your status in life.
Well, thinking, what actually led me to explore the possibilities of the metaverse? It's the same longing that Marvel introduces to the audience; the ability to find someone, to travel, and to change the world. And guess what? This digitization is already going on. As with the MCU, the metaverse is another interconnected world that you can discover.
The metaverse is the next frontier in connecting people, just like social networking was when we got started.
