Beyond Self-Doubt: Lessons in resilience by Meghana Kaushik

In a world where most people are unsure about their purpose in life, where we are so often hit with the hammer of self-doubt, where we compare our accomplishments to those around us, and where we put "failures" on a pedestal so far high that we see it as the end. It cannot be stressed enough how important it is never to give up and believe all that happens is for a reason, be it good or bad. Meghana Kaushik – an inspirational woman, actor, anchor, writer, VO Artist, and so much more in her talk shared things that touched me deeply.

She began her talk with the following "I love the fact that I do so many things, I love the fact that I have curated this life where I have to choose between so many creative pursuits, and I love the fact that it takes more than a minute to introduce myself."

These words were that of fulfillment; they were about a sense of pride earned through hard work and toil. She went on to talk about her life. About how her upbringing as the daughter of an Army man shaped her life. In her words, reflected how she was never able to make deep relationships with her friends, thus having to tie her personal happiness to goals and about how she found companionship in her father.

Most of us are not strangers to the questions of "What", 'Why" and "How" from those around us in context to our futures. Meghana wasn't very far from us when she was being questioned about her choices in life. I believe what set her different was her approach to life as a whole.

She chose to keep going, she chose to never stop, she decided to pursue things where she could learn newer things. Her unwavering effort to continually improve herself and her attitude of never shying away from opportunities allowed her to eventually reach precisely where she wanted to.

I cannot stress this enough when I say I agree wholeheartedly with Meghana as she said, "You are so much more than one thing," where she pointed towards how not everything ends up going as planned and how important it is to always strive towards what you love, emphasizing the importance of not giving up.

Rise above the Storm, and you will find Sunshine.
